Hair Removal Techniques

You are not alone, many women all over the world have been troubled with hair growing at these places

1. Facial hair, often located above upper lips. It is also known as ‘moustache’ for women and can be easily laughed at by other people.

2. Armpit hair.

3. Hair on breast

4. Leg hair

I will go through the methods used by women in hair removal and discuss what works and what don’t work and introduce to you a revolutionary new method for hair removal.

Shaving

I do not recommend shaving as hair grows back very fast if you shave and that’s not it, hair that grows back will be thicker than before and can often cause ingrown hair. If you do not shave properly, it can cause spots, bumps or wounds on the legs. If you do shave, the best time to shave is after bathing where the pores are still open. Do apply some moisturiser after shaving.

Plucking

The most traditional method used by women is plucking. Plucking is effective as it pulls hair off the roots. However, not many people can tolerate the pain and it can often cause ingrown hair. If you are currently using this method of plucking, you might face problems like ingrown hair. I have a tip for you. Try scrubbing regularly with a body scrub to prevent ingrown hair. It can be rather time consuming and hair might grow back in days to a week depending on individual. Hair that grow back is fine and not thick and coarse unlike shaving.

Epilating

In simple terms, an epilator is an electric-operated device that pulls hair off the roots at a faster rate as compared to manual plucking. The tweezers rotate at a fast speed to pluck the hairs out so pain is minimised, but not 100% painless. The advantages are that, it can save you a lot of time compared to manual plucking. The disadvantages are that of manual plucking as well. They are usually painful, and not very effective in removing all hair and hair can grow back in few days to a week. Many women have commented that epilators do not always remove the hair root as advertised.

Waxing

Waxing works as it removes dead skin cell along with the unwanted hair and makes the skin silky smooth after that. Waxing lasts about a week to 3-5 weeks depending on individuals. Hair that grows back is finer as hair is removed from the roots. You can either performing waxing at your own privacy or by professionals but the pain of waxing and embarassment of going to saloons (showing your privates to someone you don’t know) for hair removal can be taunting for many girls. Further more, if you have sensitive skin, you might have reactions to the chemicals used in the wax and might develop bumps and rashes.

Hair Removal (Depilatory) Creams

If you use hair removal creams, you might experience a slight burning effect but if you can tolerate it, you can experience hair to grow back only after 2-3 weeks. It is recommended that you apply moisurisers after using hair removal cream to prevent redness or bumps appearing as the skin tends to be more raw after using hair removal cream. However, due to the chemical ingredients in these hair removal cream, people have reported developing rashes after using some of these products. Some hair removal creams are not supposed to be used on facial or near privates area. Do remember to check out the labels before using it on your body.

Laser IPL Treatment

Laser IPL treatments are currently known to be the most popular among women for hair removal currently. Though advertised to be ‘permanent’, its effects can last about 2-3 years. It will take about 4-5 treatments (depending on the thickness of the skin) for complete hair removal and complete package would be in the range of $2000-$3000. Be sure to look for a professional with strong background and experience to perform laser IPL treatment as improper handling of the machine could cause scaring from the heat. There is of course a slight tingling feeling during IPL treatment due to the lasers used.

Threading

An ancient technique that originated from India. It is known to be gaining popularity in countries worldwide. The threading specialist uses a doubled-up strand of cotton to twist around individual hairs, then pulls them out from the roots. Threading can sometimes lead to pain, scarring and ingrown hair if not dne properly. However, it is rather inexpensive and results of hair removal can last about a week or longer. The advantages of threading is that is can cause hair to be thinner over time.

Having gone through all the methods of hair removal, I would like to summarise the problems faced when using the above common methods for hair removal.

1. Time consuming

2. Effects do not last

3. Develop rashes or bumps after using the methods (sensitive skin)

4. Embarassing to go to professional (for hair removal on private areas)

5. Allergic to chemicals

6. Hair that is regrown is thicker than normal

7. Unable to use to removal hair at all body parts

8. The method doesn’t work for me. I have coarse hair.

Choose Hair Care Products After Testing for Quality

March 11th, 2010 hair extensions No comments

Today, one of the most highly evolved industries since years is the hair care industry as the focus is clearly on maintaining the hair. Maintenance of lengthy hair poses many problems since shampoos and conditioners have to be applied periodically. If there is lack of maintenance of hair, it will result in multiple problems for the person. Eventually, lack of hair care will result in loss of hair or baldness that may not be good for the individual. Therefore choose the hair care products after testing them for quality and reliability.

People having long hair will always find the going tough daily since maintenance is a problem. Ladies, especially, have to face a lot of problems when it comes to maintenance of hair. Therefore, a number of prescriptions are being made by doctors and beauticians engaged in the industry. However, there are plenty of limitations when it comes to maintenance of hair. For, there are various types of hair, such as oil hair, dry hair and dense hair. Not all products meet the requirements of each hair type. Since it is difficult to standardize the hair product, the onus is clearly on the individual to decide what products go well with the hair. However, choosing this particular product can be a big problem for the users.

This includes not only forming the right combination for the hair type, but also using it appropriately. Each person should be aware of the limitations of natural hair care. Whenever a person faces a problem relating to hair care, he or she first visits the beautician or the personal doctor concerned who will prescribe medicine. The prescription could be in the form of cosmetics or hair care products such as shampoos, conditioners, nourishment and growth aiding agents. However, consumers are not aware of the product that has to be used to produce the desired effect. What matters most to the consumers at this point is to ascertain whether the product works in favor of them.

The major hurdle in ascertaining whether the product is favors the hair is that the components of the product are not standardized. Unlike medications, the cosmetic products that are applied on the skin or to the hair need not necessarily produce the same effect to all people. Each person’s physical composition varies. Therefore, the reaction of the hair care ready products may be different from person to person. The products cannot be personalized at any level to the customer. Here, there are many limitations. The customer will be in a dilemma whether to opt for ready hair care products or to go in for natural ingredients or agents.

The common problem faced by two out of three individuals these days is the rapid loss of hair. The loss of hair is not only premature but resulting in the baldness of individual. A number of reasons are attributed to loss of hair. They range from physical problems to a variety of emotional matters. For instance, long-term exposure of the hair to shampoo and cosmetic products can damage the hair. It could aid loss of hair leading to baldness or dandruff generation or hair fall on account of variety of problems. Extreme temperatures and the presence of pollutants in the air can also cause extensive hair loss. Similarly, mental stress and extreme work pressure also contribute towards loss of hair.

A combination of all these factors can lead to cascading effects. It is often noticed in the form of premature hair loss. These days the trend of youngsters aged around thirty years completely losing their hair on the head is nothing new. Premature graying of the hair is also noticed these days among people of younger age. A number of prescriptions are provided to avoid premature loss of hair or fall of hair. Some of these prescriptions also come in the form of medicine. But the best way to maintain healthy hair is to nurture the natural growth of hair.

The hair growth can be promoted by using a number of simple techniques such as meditation, yoga and exercise. The hair on the head needs the right diet, rich in protein and vitamins, for good growth. If these basic requirements are not provided to the minimal possible extent, the hair loss can be on the higher side. One of the best ways to maintain the body that will eventually assist hair growth is to carry out rigorous exercise daily. It has been found that a person has to exercise daily to maintain a slim and trim body, ultimately stay fit and healthy.

This will have multiple effects on the human body. For instance, a healthy human body will be developed all round. The healthy human body will not have any problems or ailments that might cause long term problem. If the body is put to rigorous exercise each day, it will generate considerable health parameters for the person. A healthy body is devoid of any problems. It will be in good supply of the vital ingredients to keep all characteristics and components at the desired level. An unhealthy person may be forced to quit certain crucial diet.

This crucial diet may be the key factor promoting hair growth. The discontinuation of the diet may assist in reduction of hair and eventually contributing to baldness. Therefore, maintenance of diet assumes importance. In order to maintain a normal diet, regular exercise is a must practice.

HAIR LOSS AND SCALP TREATMENT

What causes hair loss?

Alopecia is the general medical term for hair loss, and it has many different causes. Normal human hairs can be classified according to their phases of growth. Anagen is the growing stage of hair, while telogen is the sleeping stage of hair. About 80 percent of the hairs in the human scalp are growing hairs and about 20 percent of them are sleeping hairs. It has been estimated that the scalp normally contains about 100,000 hairs. Therefore, the average number of hairs that can be lost in a day is about 100. Contrary to popular belief, neither shaving nor hormonal changes, such as menstruation, has any effect upon hair growth. Hair loss can be broken down into several different types, including alopecia areata (temporary hair loss in a coin-shaped patch), telogen effluvium (temporary hair loss secondary to a stressor on the system), and androgenetic alopecia (male-pattern hair loss). For the purposes of our discussion, we will

focus on male-pattern hair loss. It generally shows itself in the 20s or early 30s by gradual loss of hair, chiefly on the top of the head and in the angles at the frontal hairline. There are several different patterns to this hair loss, but male-pattern hair loss is the most frequently encountered type. The exact mechanisms are still unknown. We have no doubt, however, that inherited factors and the effect of androgens (male hormones) on the hair are most responsible.

Can Vitamins Regrow Hair?

March 10th, 2010 hair extensions No comments

Having a luxurious head of hair is associated with attractiveness, as reinforced by countless shampoo advertisements with women swinging their thick, shiny head of hair around while groaning ecstatically! That’s not to mention scores of advertisements for prescription medications, over-the-counter creams and hair transplant surgeries. Many would be willing to stand on their heads in a bowl full of green Jell-O for 15 minutes a day if they were told it would regrow their hair!
Most of us lose around 100 hairs a day – this is perfectly normal, just look your hairbrush! However, at least 50 percent of all adults will experience hair loss or thinning hair by age 60, and this affects approximately 40 million men and 20 million women. There are many types of hair loss:
Androgenetic alopecia, or pattern baldness. This is the most common type of hair loss. Male pattern baldness usually occurs in the front, crown and sides of the hairline. It’s not uncommon for male hair loss to begin in the 20’s. An androgen receptor gene on the X chromosome explains why a man’s baldness resembles that of his maternal grandfather more than his father. However, baldness can be inherited from the mother’s or father’s side of the family with equal frequency. Female thinning is most likely to occur on the crown and in the front. In both men and women, this type of hair loss is heredity and permanent.
The hormone dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, is also related to male pattern baldness. DHT binds with receptor sites on hair follicle cells to cause balding and decreases the length of the hair growing cycle so that each new regeneration of hair becomes smaller and thinner. That’s why you see so many advertisements for hair loss products extolling their virtues as DHT blockers, such as Propecia. DHT blockers also include natural supplements for thinning hair such as saw palmetto, nettles, pumpkin seed oil, green tea, emu oil, and soy isoflavones.
Telogen effluvium occurs in response to stress. This can be triggered by childbirth, major surgery, serious psychological stress, or serious illness such as high fever or severe flu. However, hair loss may not occur until three to six months following the stressful incident, so it’s difficult to connect the stress with the loss. Hair usually regrows within six to nine months.
Alopecia areata is temporary hair loss characterized by round patches of hair falling out of the scalp. This hereditary disease of the immune system can affect children or adults and is caused by white blood cells attacking the hair follicle.
Hair loss can also be affected by these other factors:
· Side effects of medications or treatments, including medications to treat arthritis, depression, heart problems, high blood pressure and gout – plus chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
· Symptoms of illness, such as diabetes, lupus or thyroid disorders.
· Overuse of hair treatments and products such as hair dye, permanents, straighteners, hot rollers, curling irons and blow dryers. This is called traumatic alopecia.
· Poor nutrition. This is especially true if you don’t get enough protein or iron in your diet.
Given all this, is vitamin E good for hair? Despite what all those exciting commercials say, current research shows that there is no absolute direct correlation between taking vitamin supplements and permanent hair regrowth. There’s a popular misconception that Vitamin E regrows hair. You can take all the Vitamin E supplements you want to, and even rub it on your head, but it won’t magically transform you into a Muppet in dire need of a haircut!
However, non-hereditary hair loss is an indicator of poor health. As a result, you should ensure that you’re eating a healthy diet and taking the right vitamins and minerals that help to prevent hair loss. Unexplained hair loss should be evaluated as a symptom of other health problems – if you experience this, check with your physician.
Although no particular vitamin or product will give you a head of hair like Cher’s in the 70’s, you should take minerals and vitamins that help prevent hair loss to complement your nutritious diet. Good nutrition is important to overall health and healthy hair growth. The following vitamins and minerals have been shown to help to prevent hair loss:
Vitamin A: This antioxidant produces healthy scalp sebum. Daily dose is 5,000 IU. Caution: Ingesting more than 25,000 IU of vitamin A daily is toxic – it can cause hair loss and other serious health problems. Food sources include fish liver oil, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, apricots and peaches.
Vitamin B 3, or Niacin: Promotes scalp circulation. Daily dose is 15 mg. Food sources include brewer’s yeast, wheat germ and fish.
Vitamin B 5, or Pantothenic acid: Helps prevent graying and hair loss. Daily dose is 4 to 7 mg. Food sources include whole grain cereals, brewer’s yeast and egg yolks.
Vitamin B 6: Helps prevents hair loss and assists in the production of melanin, which gives hair its color. Daily dose is 1.6 mg. Food sources include brewer’s yeast, whole grain cereals, vegetables and egg yolks.
Vitamin B 12: Helps prevents hair loss. Daily dose is 2 mg. Food sources include fish and eggs.
Vitamin C: This antioxidant maintains healthy skin and hair. Daily dose is 60 mg. Food sources include citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwi, cantaloupe, pineapple, tomatoes, green peppers, potatoes and dark green veggies.
Vitamin E: Does vitamin E promote hair growth? Well, this antioxidant does encourage scalp circulation. Daily dose is up to 400 IU. Food sources include cold-pressed vegetable oils, wheat germ oil, soybeans, raw seeds and nuts, dried beans, and leafy green veggies.
Biotin: Helps produce keratin, which may prevent graying and hair loss. Daily dose is 150 to 300 mcg. Food sources include brewer’s yeast, whole grains, egg yolks and rice.
Inositol: Keeps hair follicles healthy at the cellular level. Daily dose is up to 600 mg. Food sources include whole grains, brewer’s yeast and citrus fruits.
Calcium: An essential mineral that boosts hair growth. Daily dose is up to 1,500 mg. Food sources include tofu, fish, nuts, brewer’s yeast, beans, lentils and sesame seeds.
Chromium: Helps prevent hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, which can cause hair loss. Daily dose: Up to 120 mg. Food sources include brewer’s yeast and whole wheat bread.
Copper: Helps prevent hair loss and defects in color or structure. Daily dose is up to 3 mg; but more than that can lead to dry hair, hair loss and severe health problems. Food sources include shellfish, green vegetables, whole grains, eggs and beans.
Iodine: Prevents dry hair and hair loss. Daily dose is 150 mcg. Food sources include fish, seaweed, kelp, iodized salt and garlic.
Iron: Prevents hair loss. Daily dose is 15 mg. Food sources include eggs, fish, whole grains, green vegetables and dried fruits.
Magnesium: This is one of the vitamins to regrow hair; it works in tandem with calcium to promote healthy hair growth. Daily dose is 280 mg. Food sources include green vegetables, wheat germ, whole grains, nuts, soy beans, chickpeas and fish.
Potassium: This is another one of the vitamins that make hair regrow; potassium promotes healthy hair growth. Daily dose is 3,500 mg. Food sources include avocados, bananas, lima beans, brown rice, dates, figs, dried fruit, garlic, nuts, potatoes, raisins, yams and yogurt.
Selenium: Keeps scalp supple and elastic. Daily dose is 55 mcg, but more than that can cause hair loss. Food sources include brewer’s yeast, grains, tuna and broccoli.
Silica: This natural supplement for thinning hair strengthens hair and prevents hair loss. Daily dose is 55 mcg, but excessive amounts can lead to hair loss. Food sources include seafood, rice, soybeans and green vegetables.
Sulfur: Sulfur is a main component in hair structure. Daily dose is 1 to 3 g. Food sources include onions, garlic, eggs, asparagus, fish and dairy products.
Zinc: Zinc works in tandem with vitamin A; a deficiency in either can cause dry hair. Daily dose is 12 mg. Food sources include spinach, sunflower seeds, mushrooms, whole grains and brewer’s yeast.
In addition to vitamins and minerals that boost hair growth, you should also include omega-3 fatty acids in your diet to prevent hair loss. Good sources include wild Alaskan salmon, sardines, herring, mackerel, flax seeds and walnuts.
Instead of trying to take each one of these vitamins and minerals separately each day, consider a complete multivitamin. A good one will provide all these nutrients in the sufficient, yet safe dosages. In addition, here are some helpful hair care tips:
· Use all-natural biotin-based shampoo and conditioner to help your hair appear thicker.
· Be easy with your hair; brush it gently, starting from the bottom and working your way up. Don’t ever harshly tug downward on tangles.
· Don’t blow dry your hair, use curling irons or hot rollers. Try some firm hair gel and a round styling brush instead; style your hair, then let it air dry.
· Don’t frequently put your hair in ponytail holders or barrettes, and never use rubber bands on your hair!
· Shorter hairstyles make hair look thicker.
· Avoid the Donald Trump comb over style at all costs!
To improve your hair’s health and the overall physical condition of your body, take the next step and improve dietary nutrition, take the right vitamin and mineral supplements, and minimize the stress in your life.

Hair Loss-cause, Prevention and Treatment

March 10th, 2010 hair extensions No comments

The adult scalp contains about 100,000 hair follicles. Everyday the scalp loses about 100 hairs and they will grow back in 5-6 weeks. Starting at age 40, the levels of by-product prolactin of testosterone of men increases, stimulating the production of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase that causes the conversion of testosterone to gihydro-testosterones DHT causing our hair to grow back thinner or not grown back at all. This causes an androgenic alopecia hair loss problem, since DHT shrinks the follicles causing hair thins and hair receding at the forehead, crown and temple for men and thins over the entire scalp for women. What causes hair loss.1. The Causes of Hair Lossa) AgingHuman aging is the biological process that is unavoidable but controllable with healthy diet with complex carbohydrates, green foods, garlic, onion, water and juices that will help to decrease the aging process in some degree. It also helps to reduce the amount of DHT produced in our body, result in postponing hair loss to our scalp.b) Mineral deficiencyMinerals such as calcium, iron, copper, chromium, iodine, zinc, and magnesium are necessary to maintain healthy hair growth. Mineral deficiency will reduce the chance to regulate the blood circulation that promotes healthy hair growth and thyroid hormones that prevent dry hair and hair loss as well as defects in hair color. Too much iron is toxic to your body. Be sure to talk to your doctor before taking any mineral supplement.c) Oxygen deficiencyOxygen deficiency in your blood weakens the hair follicles, leading to dryness of the scalp and hair loss. Uncontrolled diet that is high in saturated fat causes cholesterol building up in your arteries resulting in less oxygen in your blood stream. Also cigarette smoking and second hand smoke reduces the blood flow and increases the blood clotting activity of cells which would clog the blood flow and damage arteries causing oxygen deficiency and results in weaken of the hair follicles.d) Side affects of medication takenSome medications contains elements that might cause hair loss such as lithium, warfarin, heparin, and amphetamines. When hair loss is a side effect of a medication, hair growth usually returns to normal once the drug is stopped.e) Genetic hair lossHair loss is due to heredity. It is passed down from generation to generation. Genetic hair loss appears predominately in men, but may also appear in a few select women.2. Food to AvoidFoods that can cause hair loss and diminish hair growth.a) Saturated and Trans fatFoods such as meat, poultry, and fried foods contain high saturated fat. Foods such as margarine, cheese, and butter contain high amounts of trans fat. These foods cause cholesterol to build up in your arteries and small veins in your scalp resulting in less oxygen being delivered to the cell in your body, including the cells on the follicles.b) Foods that contain Aspartame and Monosodium GlutamateMonosodium Glutamate contain chemicals that causes weight gain, increased appetite and also causes various kinds of health problems such as hair loss.Aspartame contains toxic chemicals that make you gain weight, increases hunger and causes medical problems like migraines and poor blood circulation.c) SmokingAs we mentioned in the previous article, smoking can reduce blood flow to the scalp causing hardening in the arteries, limit blood flow and make hair loss worse.d) Artificial ColorArtifiicial color contains chemical compounds that take their toll on the body’s natural balance.Specific foods to avoid include colored drinks, color-coated candies, gummy and chewy candies, and many colored cereals.e) PreservativesThese are potentially toxic to the liver and kidneys that cause hair loss and prevent hair growth as we mentioned in the article “Hair loss part IV–regrow hair with Chinese herbs”.f) Food PackagingPolyvinyl chloride is a known carcinogen, and it’s often used as plastic food wrap. It is toxic with high amounts causing damage to the kidney and liver resulting in hair loss.g) SaltEating too much salt can lead to fluid retention and increased blood pressure that cause less oxygen to be delivered to the body’s cells including cells in your scalp in result of losing hair.3. Hair Loss Prevention and TreatmentI. Here are some important minerals that may help to prevent hair loss and promote hair re-growth:a) IronIron is involved in the oxygenation of your body’s red blood cells. It is essential for normal hair growth and maintaining healthy hair. If the amount of iron can not be replaced with food intake, iron deficiency will cause hair loss because of oxygen deficiency.b) ZincIt helps to secrete the scalp with much needed oil and avoid dandruff that may cause hair loss.c) CopperStudy shows that these tripeptide complexes may actually be able to regrow hair, even in patients with total hair loss due to alopecia. Healthy tissue concentrations of copper lie between 1.7 and 3.5 milligrams. Everything else will cause hair loss.d) B vitaminsThe deficiency of B vitamins (especially B6, B3, B5 and folic acid) in your diet may lead to hair loss.e) BiotinBiotin works as an anti aging agent and helps to produce keratin in preventing gray hair and hair loss.Sources of biotin are: whole grains, egg yolks, liver, rice and milk.f) Vitamin AVitamin A is important for over-all good health. It’s also beneficial to hair follicles, as it keeps the hair root lubricated. The Tragedy of Hair Loss in Women

March 10th, 2010 hair extensions No comments

Women are not typically the people that are thought of when you think about hair loss. Generally the problem of hair loss is typically associated with men.
The simple truth of the matter is that women can lose their hair just as frequently as a man can. It is a bigger problem, however, because a woman’s appearance is much more a part of who she is than it is with a man. It might not seem right but women are judged more harshly by their appearance.
Women are often more concerned with how they look and will fuss with their appearance more than a man generally does. If a woman loses her hair she might be unsure of how she is expected to behave. Confidence loss is one of the biggest problems that a woman will face when she loses her hair.
The problem that a woman will face when it comes to her hair loss is a significant loss of her self-confidence and esteem. The medical field has done some research in this area and could come up with a treatment for a woman who is losing her hair. It will all depend on the reason for the hair loss. It is important that a woman get in to see her doctor to determine if there is a medical reason for the hair loss.
The reasons that men lose their hair are very different than the reasons that a woman would. Men typically lose their hair because of genetic reasons, while a woman can lose her hair from one of many different reasons.
One of the biggest causes of hair loss in women is stress. When a woman is having a significant hair loss the first thing that she should try to do on her own is reduce the amount of stress that she is having. The other reasons that could cause a hair loss is hormones, medication, illness or diet.
In today’s world, women are under a great deal of stress. There are many women who are trying to hold down a job, take care of their family and make sure that all of the household chores are done. This is an awful lot of stress inducing activity for the average woman.
A woman who is trying to get all of this work done might not take care of herself the way that she should. Diet and health are compromised as a result of all this activity. Getting a good amount of rest is also important to keeping in the best health.
For the best health of the hair, there needs to be good nutrition. If someone is not getting all of the nutrients that they need, their hair will begin to show the results. Poor nutrition can be very apparent when you look at the condition of someone’s hair.
A woman who is experiencing a hair loss should make sure that she gets an appointment with her doctor. There could be an illness that is causing the problem. If the doctor can find an illness that is responsible for the hair loss, then it might be possible that the treatment for the illness will resolve the hair loss problem.
Women will also lose their hair when they begin to age as well. When a woman gets to be around fifty years old, she will notice that her hair is getting thinner. A trip to the dermatologist might be able to resolve this type of hair loss.
An imbalance of hormones will also cause a hair loss in women. This is typically something that a doctor will be able to work out a treatment for. There are medications and replacements for hormones that could resolve the problem.
You should also ask your doctor if any of the medications that you take could be responsible for your hair loss. There might be a solution in a different medication or you might be able to stop taking the drug. Ask your doctor what your options are for any medication that you are taking that could cause a hair loss.

Why Hair Loss Occurs in Both Sexes and How To Reduce It

Hair loss is a common problem that comes with age for many people. Understanding exactly why it occurs can help predict if it will be a problem for you, and what measures you can take to prevent or at least minimize your hair loss. The main reasons for hair loss are covered below.

The primary reason for hair loss is genetically based. The gene for hair loss is a dominant one, usually carried through males. For example, having a father who lost either some or all of his hair makes a son more prone to the same problem. However, it is worth noting that while your inherited gene may cause hair loss, you can also affect this to some extent due to careful nutrition.

Another factor relating to hair loss is hormones. As we age, so our hormonal function and interaction is changed. There is less focus on the supplying of specific chemicals to the head, which can result in reduced hair growth in this part.

In the case of female hair loss, hormonal imbalance can affect this, and women too may find they need improved nutrition to help combat the problem.

Another known cause of hair loss is that great modern problem, stress. Stress causes the scalp muscles to constrict. This in turn restricts the circulation to the scalp, and if this happens on a frequent and prolonged basis, it can cause hair loss. However, overall, stress is one of the lesser contributing factors to the problem of hair loss.

Another main cause of hair loss is improper hair care. Each hair has its natural growth cycle, and if the hair dies, it is important to brush it out. Once it is removed, another can grow in its place. However, if it is not brushed out, it can potentially suffocate the root of the new hair, meaning it is not effectively replaced.

Similar problems can stem from failing to wash hair regularly and not removing the dirt that prevents the hair root from growing. Routine hat-wearing can also have the same unwanted result.

As mentioned, good nutrition can help with the problem of hair loss. Vitamin A will help with producing sebum in the scalp, allowing new hair to grow there. If you want to avoid supplements (and their cost), you can simply increase your intake of those foods containing the vitamin. Fish liver oil, milk, cheese, and eggs are good sources of Vitamin A. Also a number of fruits and vegetables.

If you do take supplements, don’t go above 25,000 IU a day, or this could cause more hair loss or other unrelated but serious problems.

Other substances known to help with hair loss are antioxidants such as Vitamins C and E. These are needed for a healthy scalp and hair. In fact your hair will have a fuller and shinier look if you have optimal amounts of these vitamins in your diet. They will also lead to healthier and more moisturized skin.

Vitamin C is found in a number of vegetables and fruits, in particular citrus fruits such as oranges. Vitamin E, also an antioxidant, helps with circulation in the scalp area, and is found in a variety of beans, also oils.

Being aware of the potential causes of hair loss is the first step towards its pevention. Taking the right steps in hair case based on an understanding of the reasons for hair loss will help you keep your crowning glory as healthy and in as good condition as it deserves to be.
